JDR’s Service Group in Houston are currently recruiting for a Technical Training Specialist.
The purpose of this role is to coordinate and assist in the training of the crew of offshore personnel for the Company. Some International and offshore travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for continually developing and maintaining the competence training framework, policies and procedures to support the development of high performing service teams, including generic service technical and behavioral competencies, identifying skill gaps, and ensuring the framework remains relevant.
- Regularly interfaces with technical authorities, such as the Engineering team, in order to develop in-house training.
- Work collaboratively with HR to ensure training has been booked and orders have been placed with external training companies to support service competence framework delivery.
- Supports in the coordination and the execution of in-house training, ensuring that materials, tooling, equipment, and training resources are available when required. Constantly monitoring, reviewing and managing the effectiveness of the service training and competence framework through established KPI’s.
- Interfaces with Operations Manager, Sales, and HR to inform and shape the service training and competence strategy.
- The individual will focus on each process to develop how to get work done most efficiently, balancing factors such as time, number of worker’s needs, available technology and available methods to achieve the end product with no error, safe operation, and cost effectively.
- Supports in analyzing the effectiveness of learning and development interventions for benefit realization.
- Supports the design of behavioral competency, technical and other frameworks and assists in the design of any internally run workshops.
- Liaises with the Training Co-ordinator in the UK ensuring that the learning and development data base is accurate and provides reports as required e.g. by training or qualification type, to help analyze JDR’s bench strength.
- Evaluates and trains Technicians in both a shop and offshore environment in which to develop required competencies in order to support the work.
- Maintain a professional bearing at all times and actively promote JDR products and services to customers whenever possible.
The successful candidate must have a Technical Qualification or time-served in a Mechanical and/or Electrical field, as there are responsibilities in line with the below:
- Mechanical assembly of all termination parts with an understanding of limits and fits. Employ the relevant thread lock, sealant, or anti galling compounds as necessary.
- Termination of electrical connectors, cable joints, and electrical junction boxes. Proof testing of electrical umbilicals and associated terminations.
- Swaging of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses. Integration into stab plates, winches, etc. Proof testing and flushing as required.
- Interpret and understand both JDR and customer supplied drawings.
The role requires strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage both personal workload and the time of others. Clear communication is essential, including the ability to understand written information and convey ideas accurately in writing, as well as listen, articulate information clearly, and communicate confidently in verbal discussions.
A proactive approach to problem-solving is also key, with the ability to identify causes of operational issues, assess available information and implement effective solutions.
Candidates will ideally have a strong understanding of JDR’s services and products, particularly IWOCS. A valid driving license is required and while knowledge of cables and umbilical equipment is preferred, it is not essential.
