JDR Cable Systems is excited to offer a newly created opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to join our expanding Supply Chain team at our brand new facility in Cambois, Blyth.

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, this role has been introduced to support continued business growth and increasing project demand.

You will play a key role in ensuring materials, goods, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with production schedules, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) aligned with project and production timelines
  • Raise and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in line with company procedures and supplier agreements
  • Expedite open orders and proactively identify opportunities to improve delivery performance
  • Evaluate supplier quotations to ensure best value and compliance with requirements
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with key suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance reviews
  • Represent Supply Chain in project meetings and provide updates to stakeholders
  • Support tender and bid activities by ensuring timely and accurate supplier input
  • Maintain accurate procurement data within internal systems
  • Resolve invoice queries to ensure smooth and timely supplier payments
  • Support team operations during peak periods and absences
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to support business growth
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement activities

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years’ procurement experience within a fast-paced environment, supported by a strong commercial background and proven negotiation skills.

You will demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to urgent business needs. A high level of attention to detail, strong problem-solving capability, and solid knowledge of Microsoft Office are essential, alongside a good understanding of legal and contractual terms and a commitment to working safely and ethically. Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally is required.

Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a CIPS qualification and have experience using MRP/ERP systems, although these are not essential.
