JDR Cables is seeking a driven and experienced Field Service Technician Manager to manage and coordinate our Field Service Technicians.

 

As a Field Service Technician Manager, you will play a key role in managing the offshore deployment of Field Service Technicians to support the execution of service contracts. You’ll take ownership of planning, resource allocation, and workforce readiness from bid stage through to offshore execution, ensuring technical capability, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery are achieved in line with project objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Field Service Technician (FST) utilisation and forecasting, identifying resource gaps and securing external support where necessary.
  • Lead planning of offshore service contracts, ensuring appropriate technician allocation and readiness for mobilisation.
  • Oversee performance of the FST team, including third-party personnel, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality project execution. 
  • Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager EMEA, highlighting project progress, risks, and resource status.
  • Monitor team competence to maintain alignment with current and future service needs. 
  • Support monthly revenue and gross margin delivery by contributing to budget reviews, KPI reporting, and financial tracking.
  • Maintain certification records, travel documentation, and inoculations for offshore staff, ensuring readiness and compliance across projects.
  • Coordinate travel logistics through JDR’s travel partner, ensuring efficiency and adherence to project budgets.
  • Ensure accurate capture of all third-party costs, labour bookings, and travel expenses in the Visual sales order system to monitor project spend.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rota basis, ensuring technical assistance is available during offshore operations.
  • Support the continual review and improvement of service processes, ensuring best practices and lessons learned are embedded.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments across JDR to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with wider business goals.
  • Carry out full line management responsibilities for the FST team, including performance appraisals, training, and development to ensure high standards and on-time delivery.

 

What You’ll Bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll have strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent communication, organisational, and planning abilities. You will have proven experience in an operational role within the Oil & Gas and/or Offshore Wind industry, along with previous supervisory experience managing a fast-paced, flexible, and technically skilled team. Strong delegation and team coordination skills are essential, as is the ability to travel to various locations to support offshore projects—holding a full UK driving licence. Ideally, you will also bring product knowledge of REC cables and umbilicals, as well as prior experience in a commercial role or environment.
