JDR Cable Systems is looking for a reliable and proactive Environmental Waste Technician to join the Facilities team at our Blyth manufacturing facility.

 

This is a great opportunity to play a hands-on role in keeping our site running cleanly, safely and sustainably, ensuring all operational and administrative waste is handled and controlled across site through approved waste streams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Working closely with the Facilities Lead and teams across Maintenance, Operations and HSE, you will help maintain high environmental standards while supporting continuous improvement in how we manage waste and site upkeep.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle waste generated on site via approved waste streams, ensuring all waste is ready for disposal through the approved waste provider
  • Coordinate with the waste management provider to organise collections and deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records for waste removal, ensuring all waste transfer notes and disposal documentation are signed for and returned for processing
  • Cut, segregate and dispose of waste product in line with Company requirements and regulations
  • Monitor waste disposal rates by waste type to support continued landfill reduction targets
  • Keep the waste compound and yard areas clean and hazard-free to eliminate any risk of personal injury
  • Implement waste management improvements across site
  • Operate walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and floor scrubbers to maintain site cleanliness
  • Carry out spill response to contain and remove site spillages as appropriate
  • Undertake FLT duties to support the Maintenance and Manufacturing departments
  • Support general site upkeep including litter picking, landscaping, basic site checks, winter maintenance, painting/decorating and furniture moves
  • Assist with water testing across site through scheduled temperature checks and sample preparation for onward testing by registered laboratories
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards in line with company policies and relevant legislation

You will ideally have:

  • Previous plant and waste management experience
  • Knowledge of general HSE rules
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills, timekeeping and attendance
  • The ability to work under your own initiative, planning and prioritising to meet deadlines
  • A reliable team-player approach with the ability to work under pressure
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

 

Desirable Experience:

  • FLT licences B1, B2 & B3
  • Basic IT skills
