We are seeking an experienced and motivated Capex & Indirects Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Hartlepool at JDR Cable Systems. This role is key to supporting the procurement of indirect goods and services across the business, ensuring our operational needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively, while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Indirect Buyer will be responsible for managing specific areas of indirect spend, developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement processes. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for value creation, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Lead the sourcing and procurement of indirect goods and services across the business.
- Ensure continuity of supply by managing supplier relationships and proactively addressing risks.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct reviews, and resolve pricing or invoice discrepancies.
- Negotiate and secure optimal terms, pricing, and contracts using best-in-class procurement tools.
- Stay abreast of market trends, supplier strategies, and innovations to drive added value.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that improve efficiency and support business goals.
- Prepare accurate and timely purchase orders and maintain compliance with company targets and standards.
- Identify and assess new suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
- Deliver regular updates, presentations, and reports to internal stakeholders on procurement activities.
What You’ll Bring:
You’ll have a solid background in indirect procurement, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships and deliver against performance targets. Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. You’ll be confident in negotiating contracts, analysing data, and collaborating with colleagues across various departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and CIPS membership or equivalent experience is preferred. A willingness to travel in the UK and internationally is essential, along with a valid driving licence and passport.
