As JDR’s exciting expansion into Cambois, Blyth continues to gain momentum, we are looking to recruit an Apprentice Quality Engineer to join our growing Quality team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in engineering and manufacturing to gain hands-on experience within a state-of-the-art facility while working towards a recognised engineering or quality-related qualification. The Apprentice Quality Engineer will support the Quality Engineering team in ensuring products manufactured at the Blyth facility meet the highest standards of quality, compliance and customer requirements.
Working closely with Quality Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors, you will gain experience across a wide range of quality activities including inspection, testing, compliance, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
During your apprenticeship, your key responsibilities will include:
- Support the promotion of a quality-focused culture, ensuring products meet JDR standards and customer requirements.
- Assist the Quality team in monitoring manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with project documentation, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and applicable industry standards.
- Learn how to support quality inspections and verification activities throughout the manufacturing process.
- Gain exposure to laboratory and testing activities, including electrical component testing and material verification.
- Assist in gathering information and supporting root cause analysis investigations relating to quality issues or non-conformances.
- Support the Quality team in maintaining accurate quality records, inspection reports and documentation to support project and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects and improve manufacturing processes.
- Gain experience supporting internal audits and compliance checks in line with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering and Project teams to understand how quality requirements are delivered throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
- Support preparation for client visits, inspections and audits, ensuring quality documentation and records are maintained.
About You:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong interest in engineering, manufacturing or quality management who is eager to learn and develop their skills.
You will ideally have:
- A strong interest in engineering, manufacturing or quality assurance
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science
- Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem solving
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to organise and manage information accurately
- A growth mindset with curiosity and a desire to continuously improve
