As JDR’s exciting expansion into Cambois, Blyth continues to gain momentum, we are looking to recruit an Apprentice Maintenance Technician to join our growing Maintenance team.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in engineering and manufacturing to gain hands-on experience within a state-of-the-art facility while working towards a recognised engineering qualification. The Apprentice Maintenance Technician will support the Maintenance team in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably across the plant.

 

Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will develop practical skills in mechanical and electrical maintenance while building knowledge in areas such as preventative maintenance, fault finding, and industrial drives and controls.

 

During your apprenticeship, your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Support the promotion of a Safety-First culture, adhering to JDR safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Assist the Maintenance team in maintaining and repairing plant and production equipment to ensure reliable operations.
  • Learn how to carry out planned preventative maintenance activities, helping reduce equipment downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Support engineers and technicians in diagnosing equipment faults and responding to breakdowns safely and effectively.
  • Assist with recording maintenance activities and equipment history using the site CMMS maintenance system.
  • Support sourcing replacement parts and assisting with repairs to ensure equipment returns to service quickly.
  • Identify and report potential risks or equipment issues that could impact safety, quality or production.
  • Gain experience maintaining high standards of workplace organisation using 5S principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at improving equipment reliability, safety and productivity.
  • Attend training courses and work towards developing specialist skills in drives, controls and industrial maintenance systems.

 

About You:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a strong interest in engineering who is eager to learn and develop their technical skills.

You will ideally have:

 

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science (Grade 4 or above)
  • A strong interest in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • A practical mindset and enjoyment of hands-on problem solving
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • An interest in health & safety, quality and engineering best practices
